SLAM Uganda Summer 2024

This summer, 40 youth from across Uganda came together for the SLAM service week—a time of meaningful service, worship, and personal growth. Our Internship and EA Immersion teams, along with Ugandan and Kenyan SLAM youth leaders, guided the group through a week inspired by the theme "Rekn'ize," based on Colossians 3:1-3.

Hands-On Service

The youth participated in various projects that made a tangible impact:

Building Rocket Stoves: They constructed stoves for three local widows, offering them safer and more efficient cooking methods.

Clinic Support: The group volunteered at a local dispensary, organizing and cleaning to improve the facility for patients and staff.

Educational Engagement: They visited a primary school, leading an assembly and assisting in classes to inspire and connect with students.

These projects allowed the youth to learn the value of teamwork and the importance of giving back to their communities.

Discovering New Possibilities

Throughout the week, teachings from SLAM founder Gregg Garner and Ugandan Pastor Joseph of Kattallaso Ministries encouraged participants to recognize their unique gifts and how they can serve others, even without abundant resources.

Voices of Change

At the end of the week, the youth shared moving testimonies about their experiences and how they felt called to serve with purpose. They spoke about their strengthened faith and newfound understanding that they have something valuable to offer their world.

Moving Forward

We are grateful for the opportunity to facilitate this impactful week for Ugandan youth and are excited to see how they will continue to serve in their communities. A special thanks to our @summerinternship Interns and Immersion teams for making this week possible.

The insights and skills gained during this SLAM service week will stay with these young people as they deepen their relationship with God and actively contribute to their communities.
